Accomplishments ‐ School‐Age

Congratulations go to our very own Mr. Brandon Biles, our School‐Age Program Coordinator/School‐Age Enrichment Director, for being highlighted in the 2014 publication of After School Today, the official publication of the National AfterSchool Association (NAA). In response to his commitment and dedication in the afterschool community, Brandon has been recognized as an emerging professional and was added to the “inaugural list of next generation performers”. Play Centers, the children, and families thank you, Mr. Brandon, for all of your hard work!

Accomplishments ‐ Preschool

Flowers will be blooming soon at Play and Learn at Annapolis! They recently received a grant from Unity Gardens, a non‐profit organization based in Anne Arundel County that supports the building of community partnerships through the creation of greening projects, environmental enhancement, and education. Grants are awarded twice a year to coincide with the spring and fall growing seasons and Play and Learn at Annapolis will utilize the grant to enhance their natural play space.

Angie Robinson, Director of Play and Learn at Hunt Valley, was recently elected as the new President of the Maryland State Child Care Association (MSCCA). Angie works tirelessly with MSCCA to promote the growth of quality child care programs in Maryland, with an emphasis on efforts to provide the public with information concerning the benefits of licensed and center‐based child care services. Thank you, Angie, for your commitment and dedication!

Accomplishments ‐ Play Centers, Inc.

Play Centers, Inc./Play and Learn is proud to announce that all 24 of our child care centers have been “published” by the Maryland State Department of Education ‐ Maryland EXCELS program, a voluntary Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). Maryland EXCELS awards ratings to licensed child care programs that meet increasingly higher standards of quality in key areas.

Play & Learn at Hnnt Valley Receives 2013 Best of Hunt Valley Award

U.S. Commerce  Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement

NEW YORK, NY, October  I, 2013 –For the fifth consecutive year, Play & Learn at Hunt Valley has been selected  for the 2013 Best of Hunt Valley Award in the Preschools  category by the U.S. Commerce  Association (USCA).

The USCA “Best of Local Business”  Award Program  recognizes  outstanding local businesses throughout  the country. Each year, the USCA identifies  companies that they believe have achieved  exceptional  marketing  success  in their local community  and business category. These are local companies that enhance  the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Nationwide, only  I  in 1000 (less than one-tenth  of I%) 2013 Award recipients qualified  as Five-Time  Award Winners. Various sources  of information  were gathered and analyzed  to choose the winners in each category. The 2013 USCA Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information  gathered  both internally  by the USCA and data provided by third parties.

400 CEOs & decision-makers will joined SmartCEO in honoring female CEOs at thishighly anticipated, high-energy celebration

Baltimore, MD (July 12, 2012)— Baltimore SmartCEO magazine recognized this year’s Brava winners at the 2012 Brava! Awards on Wednesday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the American Visionary Art Museum. The Brava! Awards celebrate the distinguished achievements of 25 of Greater Baltimore’s women business leaders. This year’s winners collectively generate $2 billion in revenue and employ over 5,000 people. Additionally, the 2012 Brava winners are profiled in the July 2012 issue of Baltimore SmartCEO magazine.

The Baltimore Brava! Awards, now in its sixth year of celebration, kicked off with a nomination process ending this past March. Across the Mid-Atlantic, over 200 nominations were collected for the program. To be considered for the Brava! Awards, nominees were required to be women executives leading companies that generated at least $1 million in revenue and who encourage local philanthropy, mentor fellow CEOs and set their companies on the path to tremendous growth. A dozen local business leaders of Greater Baltimore came together to form the Brava committee and to choose this year’s winners

The winners were celebrated at the Baltimore Brava! Awards ceremony on July 11, 2012, at the American Visionary Art Museum.

Past Brava winners, including members of the Baltimore Brava! Hall of Fame inductees were in attendance. Five past Brava winners were honored the evening of the event with their induction into the Brava! Hall of Fame. Suit donations were accepted for SmartCEO’s Baltimore Brava! Awards charity partner, Success in Style, an organization which helps women and men in crisis in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor become self-sufficient and employed by providing suits and changing lives.

The long awaited, official Certificate oAccreditation from the Maryland State Department of Education decision committee arrived at our doorstep!  You are now officially an MSDE-Accredited Child Center as of 12/29/10!  Our Play and Learn center at Odenton is diligently working on the MSDE State Accreditation for their center and hope to be celebrating this great achievement soon.
